Make room for a day together

A family beach day doesn’t need a packed itinerary. A lesson together, time on the sand, and a place to settle afterwards can be enough. At Ashen Surf School, our family welcomes yours to the stretch of Kabalana Beach we call home. Whether everyone wants to surf or only a few people are keen, tell us what your group has in mind and we’ll help you plan around it.

Start with the right arrangement

Before you book, share the number of people, their ages, and any previous surfing experience. We can discuss a suitable lesson arrangement and the conditions with you. Group lessons are available for at least five people at LKR 5,000 per person. If your family is smaller, ask about beginner or couple lessons. There’s no need to choose a package just to fit a label: a quick conversation helps us recommend what works for your group.

Let the lesson be part of the day

Lessons last 90 minutes and include the board, rash guard, and zinc. Beach practice gives everyone a chance to listen, try the movements, and ask questions before entering the water. People learn at different speeds, even within the same family. We encourage you to enjoy your own progress and cheer each other on. When you inquire, tell us if anyone prefers to stay on shore or feels unsure about the water.

Save time for the sand

Sun beds are available at the beach, so there’s room in the day for watching the ocean too. Ask us about availability and current arrangements. Bring the things that keep your family comfortable: towels, drinking water, swimwear, and sun protection. A little time without a schedule leaves space to enjoy the view, compare your favourite moments, and decide whether the next thing is another paddle or a longer rest.

Turn a beach day into a little stay

If you’d like a local base, Ashen Surf House has two rooms, with double-bed accommodation, a kitchen, bathroom, air conditioning, and hot water. The listed rate is LKR 15,000 a night. Share your dates and guest numbers so we can confirm suitability, room availability, and the total. A surf video session is another option for a family visit: ask about a group package with drone surf video and HD photos to remember the day.
